2007 - 1st Annual

Welcome to the Philadelphia Scholars Score 4 Scholarships Basketball Tournament. Our annual tournament, hosted at the University of Pennsylvania's famous Palestra gymnasium, features an “NCAA Style” bracket, featuring multiple competitive divisions with up to eight basketball teams in each division.

Pennsylvania Governor Edward G. Rendell poses with tournament officials and Score 4 Scholarships Event Chair Jermaine Bromell before the opening tip-off in the 2008 tourney.

All proceeds from the annual event benefit the Philadelphia Scholars Program which provides "Last Dollar Scholarships" to participants of the Ed Fund's College Access Program. Since 1990, the Ed Fund's Philadelphia Scholars Program has awarded nearly $6.1 million in Last Dollar Scholarships to more than 1,500 graduates from the Philadelphia School District. Last Dollar Scholarships bridge the gap between a student's financial aid package and the actual cost of attending college.
