  • Special Presentation by Andreas Schleicher, Director of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA)
    Monday, April 26, 2010 - 8:30am - 10:00am

The Philadelphia Math + Science Coalition and the Institute for a Competitive Workforce, an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, invite individuals to a presentation by Andreas Schleicher, Director of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), the international assessment of 15-year-olds in mathematical literacy, scientific literacy, problem solving and reading.

Schleicher is the division head for indicators and analysis in the Directorate for Education at the OECD (Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development), headquartered in Paris. Mr. Schleicher’s responsibilities include directing PISA, which provides a comparison of student assessment throughout the world and is often cited in reports about American students' decline in international rankings.

Schleicher’s work focuses on global trends in education, comparing the U.S. with its international economic competitors. What are the best performing countries doing to improve their education systems, especially in math and science? What will the economic implications be if the U.S. fails to improve?

If you are concerned about our students acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to fuel our economy, then you won’t want to miss this presentation!
