Through the generous support of the Samuel S. Fels Fund, the Philadelphia Education Fund implemented Teacher Inquiry grants in 2008–2009 to align with Diplomas Now. These grants are given to select teachers at schools where the Ed Fund is putting its Early Warning Indicators research into practice through the Diplomas Now program.

These Inquiry Grants provide an opportunity for teachers and their peers to explore innovative ways of improving teaching and learning to support students that have one of the four Early Warning Indicators. For teacher teams selected, the Philadelphia Education Fund provides technical assistance, resources, and a structure for teachers to collaborate over extended time periods to create classroom-based interventions designed to deeply engage students in learning. Each team presents their project and outcomes at the end of the semester.
