CIMS is a grant program funded through the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Its goal is to enable regular and special education teachers in Pennsylvania to become “highly qualified” teachers of secondary mathematics or science.

E=mC2 (Temple Unversity)
Educating Middle-Grades Teachers For Challenging Contexts, trains midcareer and early retiree mathematics and science professionals as middle-grade teachers. E=mc2 provides an accelerated path to Pennsylvania teaching certification and enables professionals to begin the program while maintaining their current jobs.

Math and Science Teaching Grant (Eastern University and Chestnut Hill College)
Provides grants to career-changers. Funding supports tuition, fees, books and materials in preparation for certification in middle school mathematics or science; or secondary mathematics, biology, chemistry, or general science.

Military Educators Initiative (DVIRC)
For individuals with prior military service, a bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math focus, and a desire to teach and develop the leaders of tomorrow. DVIRC will assist candidates finding placement in one of 15 school districts and 5 institutions of higher education in the region. Partial or full teacher certification reimbursement.

Noyce Scholarship (Drexel University)
Designed for persons with a major in math or an area of science or engineering who wants to teach in a high need school. Individuals who successfully
complete this program will become certified teachers of mathematics, biology, physics, chemistry, earth and space science, or general science.

Philadelphia Teacher Residency (Philadelphia Education fund)
Philadelphia Teacher Residency retools science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) professionals and recent graduates to teach math and science, grades 6–12, in Philadelphia’s high need secondary schools. Residents learn alongside mentor teachers for one school year, while simultaneously pursuing certification at the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education.

Philadelphia Teaching Fellows
Philadelphia Teaching Fellows recruits career changers and recent college graduates to teach in critical need subject areas. Fellows begin teaching on Intern certificates with regular teacher’s salary and benefits, and have up to 3 years to complete certification coursework at one of 5 university partners. Funding available, depending on university grants. Fellows are eligible for AmeriCorps tuition award up to $4,750.
