Secondary Education Blueprint

Since fall 2006, The School District of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Education Fund have been working to engage internal and external stakeholders to build a broad-based, Blueprint for secondary education reform.

The Blueprint will establish a robust, research-based framework and design process that will be both self-sustaining and will guide continuous program improvement for students in grades 6 through 12 over a five year period. The Blueprint is planned to be completed in Fall 2008. .

Based on lessons learned and progress made during the first phase of the District's secondary education reform, and building on the District's redesign of the middle grades, the District and the Ed Fund are co-convening a broad-based group of District, regional, and school staff, along with youth, parents, community, and other critical stakeholders through cross-regional and school-based groupings to inform this blueprint.

• A steering committee encompasses key District and charter school officials, the Philadelphia Federation of Teachers, the Commonwealth Association of School Administrators, key external partners, parents and students.

The following pages provide additional information on the Blueprint process including materials from Steering Committee Meetings, School Based Study Groups, HS Focus Groups, Anchor Work Teams, and other input into the Blueprint process. The papers listed on the column to the right are the major papers related to this work.
