On November 2, 2023, PEF’s McKinney Center for STEM Education, in partnership with GSK, convened members of the Philadelphia STEM Ecosystem and Philadelphia STEM Equity Collective.
Hosted by the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, more than 80 individuals representing schools and school districts, community groups, government agencies, industries, and foundations learned about the accomplishments of these two initiatives. The keynote address was delivered by Jackie Means, Miss Philadelphia and founder of the “Girls Empower STEM Initiative.” And the event culminated when Sheila Hess, Philadelphia’s City Representative, presented a Mayoral proclamation announcing the week of October 30 as “Philadelphia STEM Equity Week.” To learn more, check out Technical.ly’s coverage here:
