PEF Partners with Almac Group to Offer New, 4-Year College Scholarship

We’re pleased to announce our partnership with Almac Group to manage a new college scholarship with a value of up to $75,000 over four years. The Almac Group Scholarship will be awarded this summer to one high-achieving College Access Program student who plans to major in a STEM field or in Business, mirroring Almac’s operations located at its US headquarters in Souderton, PA, and will matriculate to a Pennsylvania college or university. The amount of the award will be needs-based and include support for tuition, housing, meals, books and supplies, and transportation to and from campus.

Globally headquartered in Northern Ireland, Almac Group is a privately owned contract development and manufacturing organisation providing a range of integrated services across the drug development lifecycle. It employs more than 5,600 across 18 facilities in Europe, the US, and Asia.

In addition to financial assistance, the selected student will participate in PEF’s Philadelphia Scholars Program and have the chance to learn about the range of careers available in the global pharmaceutical and biotech industry as well as meet Almac’s area staff.

“We are grateful to Almac Group and McClay Foundation for their recognition of our work, and we’re excited to be able to offer this scholarship to our students,” said Farah Jimenez, PEF’s President and CEO. “What makes this new partnership special is the career exposure opportunity that the student will have. Having a broader sense of where their degree can take them will be both guiding and motivating.”

“Recognizing the significant barriers to education that many students face, we are honored to launch the Almac Scholarship Fund, specifically designed to support local students in their educational ambitions, regardless of financial circumstance,” commented Alan Armstrong, CEO of Almac Group and Chairman of the McClay Foundation. “We are delighted that in Philadelphia Education Fund, we have successfully identified a charitable partner which shares in one of our core values —that educational opportunity has the power to transform lives and communities. We look forward, with great anticipation, to awarding to a deserving student this summer.”

Stay tuned for the announcement of the awardee in June!
