In September 2022, Philadelphia Education Fund’s College Access Program (CAP) Coordinator Brandi Ashley attended the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) Conference in Houston, Texas. Brandi’s attendance at the conference was fully sponsored by Swarthmore College, as they sponsor a counselor each year. Thank you to Windsor Jordan, the Associate Dean of Admissions and Director of Access and Equity, for the sponsorship of Brandi and this wonderful opportunity.
Brandi is a PEF employee who works as a CAP Counselor at John Bartram High School, helping students with college and career resources, readiness, and advising. This conference was an opportunity for Brandi to network and meet with secondary and postsecondary college admission counseling professionals from around the country. Through these connections, she learned about new resources to bring back to PEF and students.
“My main objective while attending the NACAC Conference was to find resources that would benefit the students that we, College Access, work with. I was able to leave the conference with information about Greenlight Match, a new platform that aims to make the college application process more equitable for FGLI (first-generation, low-income) students. Thank you, Swarthmore College, for your commitment and support to local college counselor, like myself!”
