PEF’s College Access Program (CAP) Coordinators at Frankford High School took a group to La Salle University on May 6 for a Junior Jumpstart Retreat, one of CAP’s signature annual events. Hosted by a team of dedicated admissions representatives and two enthusiastic Student Ambassadors, the PEF group enjoyed an engaging and informative retreat.

During the visit, student guides shared honest insight about the realities of college life – from adjusting to new academic expectations to taking advantage of the many opportunities available on campus.

After a campus tour, La Salle Admissions Counselor Nia Hunt provided students a deeper understanding of what it means to be an Explorer, what La Salle has to offer, and how to create lasting success during college and beyond.

To close out the day, CAP Coordinator Ahmad Williams led the students through an interactive session that introduced key themes to prepare students for senior year, including strategies to approach the SAT, exploring postsecondary options, crafting a resume and personal statement, and college affordability resources such as scholarships and FAFSA.

Frankford CAP Coordinators, Amaya Cooper and Ahmad Williams share that, “experiences like these are the heart of what we aim to provide through the CAP program – real exposure, practical tools, and inspiration to help our students confidently take the next step in their journeys. We’re so proud of our juniors for showing up with curiosity and focus, and we can’t wait to keep building on this momentum!”
