Olney High School students in PEF’s College Access Program (CAP) had an opportunity to visit and explore Saint Joseph’s University last week, chaperoned by CAP Coordinators Héctor Colón and Sara Walker.
The group was treated to a surprise upon arriving at the Innovation Center within the Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph’s University (SJU), as they were greeted by the campus robot, Iggy! CAP students learned about the humanoid robot’s capabilities – many of which had been programmed by SJU students themselves. The presentation also touched on how SJU programs address and incorporate artificial intelligence and virtual reality.
The CAP Coordinators noted how excited and energized the students were as they learn about the various educational and career trajectories that start with a degree in Business or Technology.
Imani Briscoe, a Program Specialist for Inclusion and Diversity Experiential Programming at SJU, shared with the group the campus resources available to students to acclimate and feel connected, including various identity and affinity clubs and organizations.
Thank you to the host team at SJU, including Dr. Marcello Balduccini, Matthew Kelly, Imani Briscoe, Rich Bell, and the student ambassador tour guides, for sharing their passions and taking time to invest in our students.
