How many times have we all attended a training fully intending to apply it right away. And then, we don’t. Our workshops for Philadelphia Scholars avoid this by incorporating real time practice as part of the event. For our Winter Break Career Readiness Workshop, we paired every student with a professionally employed, recent college graduate to coach them through the materials essential to finding their summer internship or first job.
PEF staff presented 3 modules – the resume, the elevator pitch, and the search – each followed by a working session for the student-volunteer pairs. By the end of workshop, students left with better tools to communicate their search, network, and apply for jobs or internships.
