Education First Compact: The Search for the New Superintendent
After 10 years, Dr. William Hite will complete his tenure as the Superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia, and Philadelphia will welcome a new school leader. As we emerge from nearly two years of distance learning and a school budget impacted by the COVID-related economic downturn, there can be no doubt that student performance and fiscal challenges will abound for Philadelphia’s new school leader. There will also be opportunities to deepen student learning and reclaim gains in graduation and literacy rates.
At this special session of the Education First Compact, we host School Board of Philadelphia President Joyce Wilkerson for a presentation and discussion on this important Superintendent search.
Join us for this opportunity to learn more about the process and the timeline. Attend to hear from those involved in shaping the search. And, come prepared to share your thoughts and reflections on what attributes, traits, skills and focus areas you think should weigh heavily in the selection of Philadelphia’s next School District Superintendent.
Guest: Joyce Wilkerson, President, Philadelphia Board of Education
Host: Farah Jimenez, President and CEO of Philadelphia Education Fund
