The Great Teacher Resignation – Meeting the Needs of Educators

Who are the most burned-out workers in America? According to a February Gallup poll, the answer is… teachers! More teachers quit this June than during the height of the pandemic. And, nearly half of America’s school districts started off the school year with significant teacher vacancies.

In response, some districts began asking administrators, retired teachers, government employees and even cops to help out in the classroom. Others explored fast tracking or waiving teacher certification requirements for career professionals. Certainly, these stop-gap measures shine a light on the need for longer-term strategies.

So, what is required to build a robust teacher pipeline? How can a district heighten job satisfaction amongst its educators? What must be done to aid in the retention of America’s teacher workforce? Sounds like hard work, but are there any easy answers?

Join the October session of Education First Compact and hear from an experienced panel at the frontlines of both this challenge and the solutions being explored.
