PhillyGoes2College, in partnership with Wawa Welcome America and The Vanguard Group, presents the I Am Philadelphia Contest. PhillyGoes2College and the Wawa Welcome America Festival have teamed up this year with The Vanguard Group to highlight and celebrate the aspirations of our city’s young residents in the “I Am Philadelphia” Contest. Philadelphia high school students can submit original works in one of four categories: music, visual art, spoken word, or investment for the chance to win one-of-a-kind prizes, including the opportunity to perform or display their work at this summer’s Wawa Welcome America Festival (June 19 through July 4, 2023) and a $1,000 prize per category winner. New this year, the I Am Philadelphia Kickoff Event on January 14th will provide an opportunity for students to jumpstart their contest submissions alongside teaching artists and working professionals in each submission category. We’re grateful to Harrisburg University Philadelphia (1500 Spring Garden Street) for hosting us on Saturday, January 14th from 11:30am-2pm, including lunch.
