College Access Online Activities, each day has a theme

PEF’s College Access Team Adds Instagram to Virtual Toolkit

One of the biggest challenges our College Access team has had during this period is connecting with students who’d normally just drop into their offices at school. Email can work, but they’re not scrolling through that all day long like they are their social media accounts. Enter, the new college access account on Instagram.

Each day of the week has a theme with links to resources, guests for live Q & A, and a back channel to PEF’s counselors to answer more personal questions. “Money Mondays” focuses on financial aid; “Scholarship Tuesdays” talks about sources of support outside the government and universities, including PEF’s own Last Dollar Scholarship; “CCP Wednesdays” guides students through the application and Community College of Philadelphia’s special admittance programs; and “Decision Day Thursdays” helps students understand their acceptance paperwork, make the big decision, and take next steps.

Last week’s CCP Wednesday was a big hit! More than 100 prospective matriculants joined Amir Fralin, PEF’s College Access Coordinator at Roxborough High School, for a lively discussion and Q & A with Chris Lewis, Admissions Director for the Community College of Philadelphia.
